Accept Referral

You can accept an incoming patient referral from the same account.

To accept a patient referral.
  1. From the Patient menu, select Patient Referral.
    The Patient Referral (Overview) window opens.
  2. Click the Incoming Referrals tab.
  3. Click the Date link of the new referral.
    The Patient Referral (Details) window opens displaying the details of the referral.
  4. Click Accept Referral.
    The Patient Referral window opens.
    Note: If there is a matching patient then you will be able to see the Matching Patient tab.

    The Patient Referral tab displays the referral patient information and matching patient records based on the first name, last name, date of birth or any of the two criteria match. This enables you to create patient or link to an existing patient.
    • If there is a matching patient, select the record and click Link Referral. The statu changes to Accepted and the Patient Overview window opens displaying the referred patient's details. A master patient index is created to link the referral patient to the responsible party.
    • If there are no matching patients, deselect the record and click Create New Patient. The List of Matching Responsible Parties window opens. For more information on creating a patient, see Add Patient Information (PG).
  5. To add responsible party information from the Patient Referral tab.
    • Select Create as Member.
    • If the referral includes insurance information, then Add Insurance Plans is enabled.

    Complete changes the referral status to Accepted. If Add Insurance plans is selected, the Add/Edit Primary Dental Plan window opens, where you can add an insurance. Otherwise, the Patient Overview window opens displaying the referred patient's details. A master patient index is created to link the referral patient to the responsible party.

    Note: When the provider starts his treatment for the patient by linking appointments, treatment plans, or transactions, the status of the referral changes to In Progress.
