Creating and Managing Tasks in the Scheduler

Tasks are created in the scheduler to be processed automatically within QSIDental Web. While many of these tasks will substitute for overnight processes, the tasks can be set to run at nearly any time of the day or night.

While the options within the task setup are interdependent, in general there are several components to each task.

  • The task itself
  • The specifics related to the task – a particular report, exclusions, etc.
  • The offices within the practice that are part of the task
  • The interval and frequency for the performance of the task
  • Notification of the task completion

When setting up the task, each screen reflects the decisions made on the previous screen so options may vary. For example, selecting a weekly interval will trigger different frequency options than selecting a monthly interval.

Note: Depending on Administrator settings tasks may run at a time different then scheduled. In this case, the following message displays.

Edit a Task

Once created, any aspect of the task can be edited. Either a single instance of a task, or the entire series may be edited. To edit a task:

  1. Locate an instance of the desired task in the schedule view or task panels.
  2. Click the Edit icon.
  3. For tasks set with a repeating pattern, select the desired option for editing the task.
  4. Select Open this occurrence only to change the options only for the selected instance.
  5. Select Open the original task to change all instances of the task or its schedule.
  6. Click the Close button to cancel the editing.
  7. Make the adjustments to the options, interval, schedule, frequency, or notifications as desired.
  8. Click the Finish button when complete.

Delete a Task

Tasks may be deleted at any time. To delete a task:

  1. Locate an instance of the desired task in the schedule view or task panels.
  2. Click the Delete icon.
  3. For tasks set with a repeating pattern, select the desired option for editing the task.
  4. Select Delete this occurrence only to delete only the selected instance.
  5. Select Delete the original task to delete all instances of the task.
  6. Click the Close button to cancel the deletion.
  7. Click the OK button on the confirmation window.
