Clinical Notes

Notes are a critical way of communicating information within the practice. Clinical notes (also known as progress notes) focus on information about the oral cavity or treatments. These notes should always be entered in the chart. While SmartNotes are the best tool for adding notes, it is sometimes necessary to add other types of notes to create a complete record.

Context notes are free-form notes consisting of clinical information tied to a specific tooth or teeth. General notes refer to the overall condition of the oral cavity. Both general and context notes can be added using the palette if the practice has set the buttons to launch a note or, if no palette button is established, through the Documents tool.
