Reestimate Fees Process

The fees associated with a planned procedure are determined based on the patient's current insurance, the assigned fee schedule, and the established hierarchy among other factors. When information changes about the patient, the insurance, the treatment plan, or the fee schedule, it may be necessary to re-estimate the fees for a procedure or procedures.

By default, treatment plan item fees will be recalculated when the service is posted based on a setting in the Edit Treatment Plan window. To display the window, click the hyperlinked date for the desired planned item. If the checkbox beside Re-Estimate at Posting is checked, the fees will be reestimated based on the most recent insurance benefit and fee schedule information.

If the patient had a different insurance plan, or no plan at all, when the treatment was originally planned, it is best to reestimate the fees for all the planned treatments. Fees can be reestimated either from the Tooth Chart module or the Treatment Plan module.
